STEP Cayman NextGen Seminar & Social
Over the last decade, the Cayman Islands has introduced a series of regulatory regimes that shape how private wealth structures are established and managed. Rather than focusing solely on the technical details, this seminar will explore the bigger picture: the policy rationales behind these regimes and their intended outcomes.
Key topics of discussion will include:
• Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) reporting: The global transition toward tax transparency and how the Cayman Islands' adherence to international standards, such as FATCA and CRS, reinforces its reputation as a well-regulated jurisdiction and supports cross-border cooperation.
• Beneficial ownership and economic substance: The underlying policy motivations for identifying ultimate beneficial owners and ensuring that entities claiming a connection with the Islands conduct substantive economic activity locally. Both initiatives are designed to address international concerns regarding financial crime and profit shifting.
• Private trust company (PTC) regulation: An overview of why PTCs are subject to a regulatory framework, and how this framework effectively balances operational flexibility with appropriate oversight.
Following the seminar, please join us for networking drinks and complimentary food. This is an excellent opportunity for NextGen members to reconnect, welcome new faces, and socialize with peers.
